SHRI JAYRAM  CHAWLA  a THE GOVINDRAM CHAWLA VISHWNA ATMANUSANDHAN FOUNDATION :

Shri Jairam Chawla talks of a time more than 6 decades ago when this happened a he was all of four years old. it so happened that his father, Govindramji, was summoned by Shri Jairam Chawla’s grand-father Vasandmalji to his bed and spoken thus, “My son, God had invited me to him, but I pleaded him to grant me forty days, so that I could leave my body during Uttarayana and attain Moksha (Liberation).God has accepted my request a I am blessed indeed”.

Shri Jairam Chawla, further reminisces, “After this incident my Grand-Father gave up eating for the rest of his days. Every morning 4 A.M became the time for worship, just like every evening from 5 PM, would be another long session with his maker. He would be lost to the world in the pursuit of the almighty.

On the fourteenth day of his fast, Vassandmatii, handed over Rupees Five Thousand to his son, Govindramji, telling him to erect a Bhagwan Shri Krishna Mandir with the money. He then quietly lay down on his son’s lap a as he listened to the Shrimat Bhavat Geeeta left for his heavenly abode, in less than a quarter of an hour.

Govindramji, a dedicated son took his father’s cause further Et bought a plot of land on the bank at River Ganga at Kankhal in Haridwar, bordering the, Swami Parmanand Ashram. It is remarkable that Jairam Chawla’s thread ceremony was performed by the much revered, Swami Parmanandji himself.

Govindramji, a devoted Hindu practitioner, enjoyed the company of many a saintly men in his times. Young Et impressionable, Jairam, would also imbibe the great teachings of the holy men he met in company of his father. By Et by he began reciting the sacred Hindu Chaupai Hanuman Chalisa, the Durga Chalisa and Ramayana with the particular intonations Et rhythmic patterns.

Govindramji acquired the entire Ground Floor in Navjeevan Society, Mahim in Mumbai. He went on to shape it into the (Bhagwan Shri Krishna Mandir’ under the Vasandmal Dheerumal Trust which exists even today.

It was Shri Govindram’s fervent desire that Jairam should get the best education a emerge into an erudite adult. In pursuance of which he enrolled his son in a school near Kashi a then in Rishikul in the hallowed city of Hyderabad, but something told him that these were not the institutes he was looking for his sons mentoring, before taking a call a admitting him in the Birla Public School in Pilani – Rajasthan.

Even when one thinks of this today it is nothing short of a miracle that a boy
educated in a Sindhi school answered all the questions put to him in the Birla
Public School interview. The questions were translated in Hindi which young

Jairam answered well enough to impress the authorities who admitted him to this prestigious school.

His achievement though did not give him much joy though. To young Jairarn’s deep despondency, on his return home during his vacations he was told that his father was no more going to be his guiding light as he had passed away two months ago. Jairam was not informed about his father’s demise, as it would have disturbed his studies.

Jairam, loved his father dearly Et with all his heart. He found it impossible to come to terms with the sudden big loss in his life a indulged himself in questioning the almighty God’s benevolence. Most of his imaginary verbal spats turned out to be miserable Et left him wrought with tears as he cried sad ft alone. On one such night Jairam heard what he believes was the voice of his soul a woke up in fear, as if from a trance. It was past mid-night. Jayram enquired with his mother about the Shri Krishna Mandir which his father wanted to built. His mother did not hide her sadness, as she told him that his father had passed away without fulfilling his dream of constructing the venerated Mandir. Jayram spent a sleepless night wondering why God had taken away his father at such an inopportune moment even before his grandfather’s dream of constructing the table could be fulfilled.

It was only three days later that Lord Shiva blessed Jairam with his grace. He revealed to Jairam, “My child, I will help you in your mission to build temples. You will be my medium in revealing the almighty to the world in the guise of several deities.

On a visit to the Vaishno Devi temple five years ago, Jairam Chawla, strongly felt the presence of Lord Shiva urging him to build a temple of the Lord Badri-Vishal.”It is your duty to save man from the wrath of the Kalyug, the dark period we live in today. See that Lord Badrivishal is worshipped even during the coldest of weathers”.

Jairam could have constructed a temple in Kankhal Haridwar where the family owned the plot of land, but it seemed a distant dream for now, as the land was gifted to Swami Parmanand, there being no caretaker from the Chawla family to look after their property.

A restless Jairam Chawla, decided that the temple would come up near Mumbai. The only hitch to the proceedings was the fact that a Vishnu Badrivishal temple already existed in, Uttarakhand Himalaya. Moreover, the revered Jagadguru Shankaracharya, had himself established the temple as a part of the Chardham Yatra.

Shri Jairam, found himself in an impasse ft sought the advice of the Ex-President of
the Kedanath-Badrinath temple Shri Nandkishore Nautiyal. Shri Nautiyal advised
him to meet the Jyotishpith Badrinath ft Dwaraka Sharda Pithadhishwar Param

Pujya Jagatguru Shankaracharya Swami Shri Swarupa Nand Saraswatijee Maharaj to help him make an assessment it tackle the matter.

In their first meeting Shri Jairam, found shades of Lord Shiva in the respected Guru. As if by miracle he seemed to know of the entire progression of events tilt then a the situation Shri Jairam was in at that moment.

The Mumbai-Pune highway has a huge Shankar Idol that can be seen from a distance. This giant idol has been erected by none other than Shri Jairam Chawla, The Guru had not seen the place, but when he saw the pictures Shri Chawla showed him his eyes lit up a he was quick to say that- “This is indeed the place where the Mandir should come up. You will soon start proceedings for building the Badrinath temple”. No further invitation was needed as Shri Nautiyal then requested the respected Maharaj himself to lay the foundation stone for the temple, which he readily agreed to.

That then is the path of progress for the temple where devotees of the Lord would soon congregate in large numbers. The dream has indeed come true a a sprawling Badrivishal temple is a divine sight for all.

As per the tradition of the Chawla Family funds from the family wealth were used for the noble cause. Shri Jairam Chawla also invested his personal earnings in the righteous cause a it is after transcending many difficulties that the temple has seen the light of the day.

As his father Shri Gobindram Chawla averred, “Doing charity does not reduce your wealth; a river does not dry up if its water is used; a performing good deeds enriches the body a soul of every human”.

Shri Jairam Chawla, then went on to establish the “Shri Govindram Chawla Vishwa Atmanusandhan foundation” in memory of his beloved father. It is this foundation that will facilitate ardent devotees visiting the temple to perform their Abhishek, Pooja Et other religious rites. The foundation will conduct the rituals in the Badrivishal temple in the same manner as they are conducted at the Badrinath Dham.

The Vishwa Atmanusandhan Foundation

“The materialistic, self-serving hedonistic lifestyles in tandem with the environmental pollution has severely damaged the living fabric of our planet Et cruelty affected human a animal Lives. The planet itself is in a grave crisis where its very existence is under threat.

The “Sanatan Vedic Dharma” tradition of India has always sought to establish the all encompassing idea of “Vasudeva Kutumbakam” which goes on to preach that the right balance between spirituality Et science has to be struck at all times. It was this thought Et belief that gave us the leadership position in the world. The

“Vasudeva Kutumbakam” school of thinking was also the seed of the thought that taught the concept of Universal Welfare a Brotherhood to the World. Sadly though, we seem to have forgotten the very teachings we gave the world. Today we seem to be caught in a whirlpool of materialism a personal glory. It is to rectify a heal the situation we find ourselves in that the The Vishwa Atmanusandhan Foundation  has been established.

It is a center that will pave the way for detailed study of Hindu rituals like the Pooja- Archana. The centre also will look at delving deep into the very core of our existence. It proposes to be a center of Knowledge a Research where profound spiritual awareness, Meditation, Dhyan, Japa according to the Santan Hindu school of thought will be sought.

It is our heartfelt belief that this is the way forward in establishing the welfare of the universe, goodwill amongst its brethren. Let us pray together for the triumph of the Religion of truth.
